The Jones
Family Emigrate to New Zealand
Carol's (of
nzolivers) Jones family lived in Kenwyn,
Cornwall, England.
On the on 31st of
May 1872, Thomas and Hannah (nee Sammels) Jones
- along with young children Elizabeth, Emma,
Hannah, and Thomas - left Gravesend, near
London, on the clipper ship, "City of Auckland".
The family arrived in
Auckland on 3 September 1872. Apart from a
series of strong south-easterly winds, which
were unfavourable and accompanied by a heavy
head swell there was mostly pleasant weather
throughout the voyage.

Liechtenstein)

(Primarily located in:
Sweden, Norway, Denmark)
In June 2019,
Ancestry added new regions to improve the
precision of their results for DNA tests and that
ethnicity estimate was as follows:
- 54%
Ireland and Scotland (North
East Scotland & the Northern Isles
including Banff & Buchan, Ulster,
Ireland especially South Down & North
Louth)
- 46%
England, Wales & Northwestern Europe (Devon & Cornwall, England,
especially Devon)
More recently, as at
July 2024, the ethnicity estimate on
Ancestry was further refined and now shows:
- 38% Scotland
- 31% Ireland
- 25% England
& Northwestern Europe
- 4% Germanic
