Day and month (and year confirmed) of birth, and date and country of marriage, from Jenny Smith whose late husband, John Monro Menzies, was the grandson of Telitha Carrel (b. 1885), sister of Maud Oliver (nee Carrel).
Jenny says Ambrose with his wife Martha and children, emigrated to New Zealand, leaving Gravesend, London, England on 24 December 1874 on the "Edwin Fox", and arriving four months later in Wellington New Zealand 18 April 1875. Ambrose’s cousin, Charles Woolford born 1839, emigrated to New Zealand on the same ship. Charles and Ambrose fathers were brothers. They had the same grandfather, William Woolford b. 19 April 1764.

We held a clearing sale on the 18th inst. on account of Mr A. Woolford, of Brunswick. We had good attendance of buyers, and everything sold well. Best cows £5 5s to £6 2s 6d, medium do. £4 5s to £4 17s 6d, backward calves £3 to £3 15s, 2-year heifers 29s to £2, weaners 20s; draughts from £21 5s to £36, trap gelding £15 5s, 3-year do. £12 10s to £18, hacks £2 to £5, good lambs 15s 3d, breeding ewes (aged) 19s 8d, porkers £2 12s to £2 15s, sows in pig £2 4s, numerous sundries, etc., sold at full market values.

On Thursday last [15 August 1907], at the residence of the bride's parents, Halswell street, Wanganui, the marriage was solemnised of Mr. David Johnson, of Mahoe, Stratford, to Miss Agnes Woolford, daughter of Mr. A. Woolford. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. G. Chapman, of Trinity Wesleyan Church. The bride was attended by Miss Winnie Woolford, sister of the bride, Mr. Chas. H. Johnson (brother of the bridegroom) officiating as best man. The happy couple were the recipients of many presents from a large number of friends and well-wishers

PERSONAL ITEMS.
Another old and respected resident of the Wanganui district passed away at an early hour yesterday morning in the person of Mr. Ambrose Woolford (reports the Chronicle). The deceased, who was 82, arrived in New Zealand in 1874, in the old sailing ship Edwin Fox. For many years he resided at Brunswick, where he farmed successfully, and ! reared a family of five sons and eight daughters, all of whom survive him except his youngest daughter. Some fifteen years ago he sold his Brunswick property and came to town, since when he has lived in retirement, much esteemed by all who knew him. Besides Mrs. Woolford and their family, as above, he also leaves 58 grandchildren [includes our Maud Oliver nee Carrel] and 52 great-grandchildren [includes Brian of nzolivers father - Maurice Oliver - then 8 months old].
