Information from Graeme Kenyon, whose great grandfather was James George Kenyon b.1861 whose second wife was Ada Oliver b.1864, daughter of Samuel Oliver b.1833.
Graeme writes that, “Joe continued the cooperage trade [of his father] in New Plymouth and was quite a well-known identity”.

nzolivers.com notes that a ‘cooper’ is someone who makes wooden staved vessels, bound together with hoops and possessing flat ends or heads. Examples of a cooper's work include but are not limited to casks, barrels, buckets, tubs, and butter churns.
