Graeme writes, “Edith Hooper’s parents were also New Plymouth pioneers. The Hoopers were miners from Cornwall who eventually came to New Plymouth, then took up land and farmed in South Taranaki. Edith’s mother’s family was Ducker. The Duckers came from Haxey in Lincolnshire and settled in New Plymouth in the 1870s”.
