Cynthia writes that, “Charlie, known as ‘son’ within the family, farmed firstly for his parents on the home farm in Kent Road, Karito, New Plymouth. and later at Turua, Thames NZ. When he retired it was to a small farm in Smiths Road. Matua, Otumoetai, Tauranga, NZ.

Brian Oliver of ‘nzolivers.com’ surmises that Oliver Charles Allen may have been named after his Uncle, Charles Oliver. Charles Oliver married his father’s sister, Martha.
