Winsome Griffin's (nee Guilford) husband, Neville Griffin, is related to the Bayly family. Neville's maternal grandfather, George Newsham, had a sister, Emma Eliza Newsham. She married Albert George Bayly. Albert had a sister, Emma Bayly, and she was the mother of Elinor May Gower, the maternal step-grandmother of Brian of nzolivers.
And, Winsome Griffin (nee Guilford) is the granddaughter of Francis Charles Guilford (1876-1961) whose second wife, Laura Elizabeth Wood, was first married to Charles Ernest Oliver, grandson of James (1805-1886) and Ruth (nee Batten) Oliver.

The Waitara correspondent of the Taranaki News writes: - "A wedding took place here on Thursday, the 20th inst. The bride was Miss Emma Bayly, niece of Thomas Bayly, Esq., and the bridegroom Mr. Alfred A. Gower, of Patea. The bridesmaids were Miss C. Bayly, the bride's bister; Misses M. and N. Bayly, her cousins. The gentlemen were Mr. Gower, who gave the bride to his brother; Mr. F. Bayly, and others from Hawera. The Rev. H. H. Brown officiated. The happy couple left for their home at Patea by the 4 p.m. train, amidst a shower of rice. This is the first public wedding that has taken place at Waitara.
