Name, date of birth, date and place of death, from the “Devis Family Tree” kindly shared by Julie Bourke (nee McColl) received in the post on 3 May 2017. This information is based on original research, including that of Wills, by Linda Burge and Julie Bourke. Linda is the great-great-granddaughter of Emma Frances Devis b. 1814. Julie is the great-great-granddaughter of Emma Frances Devis.

Julie Bourke forwarded a document to Brian, in an email dated 7 May 2017, that told of Susan coming out to New Zealand on the ship ‘Slains Castle’ in 1852 with her older sister, Emma Frances Horneman (nee Devis).
In an email dated 8 May 2017, Julie writes, “Susan died of ‘decline’, so I presume the voyage was too much for her, wasting away, and she may not of had a doctor at that time. I tried very hard to find her grave. I think she may of been buried at the Hallowell Cemetery in Nelson”.
