WAIRARAPA DAILY TIMES, VOLUME 3, ISSUE 717, 15 MARCH 1881
Yesterday evening about 7 p.m, a settler, named Samuel Gates, discovered the body of an old man named George Sant, lying at the back of a house near Mr Elkins' farm on Iorns estate. The deceased was employed by Mr Clayson as care taker of a small property there, and was in a very infirm state of health. Information was given to the police and the body removed to the Club Hotel, where an inquest will probably be held in the course of the day.
