LATE MRS MEREDITH
Mrs Mary Ann Meredith, wife of Mr Morgan Meredith, died at her residence at McIntosh Creek. She was born at Reading, Yorkshire, 83 years ago, her father being Inspector Dodson of the London Great Western Railway. It is 57 years ago since she landed in Queensland in the sailing ship, The Winnifred. The voyage occupied 90 days. He later entered the Queensland railway service and drove the first passenger train from Brisbane to Gympie after the official opening of the last section of the line. In 1911, Mr and Mrs Meredith took up land at Binjour Plateau, near Gayndah, and engaged in general farming. Ten years later they went on the land at McIntosh Creek.
Mrs Meredith is survived by her husband and five sons, Charles Thomas (Mundubbera), Edward (Gympie), George Morgan (Mundubbera), Sydney Victor and John Francis (Gympie). The funeral took place at Gympie.
