Ruby was the 4th of 11 known children of Charles Joseph 'Te Rongotumamao' Jury (1850-1916) who was born at Jury Island, Greytown to one of the earliest settlers of the district and of his second wife, Emily Burch (1865-1949)
Ruby married John Alfred Westbrook (1890-1951) on 15 April 1913, a son, John Egerton Jury Westbrook served in WWII as Lance Corporal 2928. He died in the Western Desert, North African Campaign 1 Dec 1941 aged 27
