In a subsequent email, Margaret writes, “The youngest son [of John Gamble], Douglas Pitt Gamble, patented a device for electric telegraph use, although it was not widely used and he eventually became the company secretary of the Electric Telegraph Company after many court cases against them, he did very well for himself and lived in a very grand house in central London. His son Edgar Guy Hudson Gamble joined the Royal Navy and not only worked his way up to be an Admiral but was knighted by the queen along the way.
