The death of Mr William Ferguson of Milton, on Friday morning, removes from our midst one of that band of sturdy hard-working pioneers, which did so much for this district in the early days of its settlement. The late Mr Ferguson arrived in Dunedin in 1863, and after a year or so at the Taieri he came to Tokomairiro and entered into the employment of Mr Dyer, and afterwards leased Mr Peter M’Gill's farm. For many years he engaged in the business of a dairy farmer, but retired therefrom some years ago. Mr Ferguson, who was over 79 years of age at the time of his decease, leaves behind him a widow and three sons, ie. - the Rev. John, Robert, and William. The funeral, which took place on Sunday, was largely attended.
