https://vwma.org.au/explore/people/145817The above website reads:
“John Nagel was born in New Zealand but was residing in Queensland when he enlisted in WW1. His attestation papers indicates he was single and his next of kin was his mother still residing in New Zealand. The AIF Project entry for John gave his place of residence as Ravenshoe, Qld at the time of enlistment. The clue to this can be found in his service records on page 45 where it is noted that '...Probate for the deceased soldier's will has been granted to Malcolm Frederick Maynard (Executor) of Ravenshoe, Queensland.' Many soldiers in the small communities of North Queensland are noted on multiple town war memorials, John being noted on both the Herberton War Memorial and the Ravenshoe War Memorial”.
