1861 census stated that Thomas Heaps was an estate agent and collector from Long Preston, Yorkshire. He owned some houses in Manchester.

Wilson Heaps (had 7 kids and emigrated to NZ)
Mary Jane Heaps, born 1842
Elizabeth Otway, born 1845
Thomas Moor,e born 1848, book seller’s assistant (age 13)
Edward Hewetson Heaps, born 1851 (Went to USA/Canada and had 8 children. In 1886 he emigrated a second time to Canada, died Vancouver 1940).

Sarah Kay is the x2 great-granddaughter of Mary Jane Heaps, brother of Wilson Heaps to emigrated to New Zealand. Wilson Heaps' son, Walter, married Aileen Dodson, who is the second cousin to Brian of nzoliver's grandmother, Kathleen McCaul.
