According to the Sarjeant Gallery website found in February 2025, “Thomas Holloway was born in the Hunterville area in the 1890s. He fought with the ANZACs at Gallipoli in 1915 where he lost his right arm. After WWI he lived in Springvale Road, Wanganui. A niece recalls that, despite the war injury, he played the piano, and had a good singing voice. Holloway usually painted still lifes and landscapes”.
