Name of “Frederick Bartlett”, name of wife, date of death, age at death, therefore estimated year of birth of circa 1874, from grave monument at Waikaraka Cemetery found in May 2025:
“…And Frederick beloved husband of the above [Ada Maria Bartlett] died 26th October 1962 in his 89th year”.

Suspecting he may have been a son of “George Henry Bartlett” and “Margaret Jane McDowell” a birth search on the New Zealand BDM website in May 2025 revealed no result. Was he born overseas?

And, this Frederick Bartlett was born about a year before the marriage of George Henry Bartlett and “Margaret Jane McDowell.

Then, a cemetery record found online said he was born in New Zealand. So, Brian of nzolivers wondered that if born out of wedlock, he may have been registered under his mother’s surname of “McDowell”?

And, success, the following record was found in May 2025 on the New Zealand BDM website:
1874/32221. McDowell, Frederick Alexander Brookfield. Mother: Margaret Jane. Father: NR [Not Recorded]
