Misc. Notes
Name of “Nita” from hand-drawn tree given to Brian Oliver by Peter Horneman circa 2005, great-grandson of Emma Caroline Horneman b. 1836

Second name of “Marion”, date of birth of “3 October 1893”, place of birth and death, place of marriage, from the F. E. Horneman family tree compiled by Alison Sleath and updated 28 April 2017. Alison is the great-granddaughter of Frederick Edward Horneman.

When Brian of nzolivers.com visited Peter Horneman in Christchurch in May 2017, Peter said Nita was an artist/painter and played the piano.

Brian’s (nzolivers.com) sister, Helen Oliver writes:
Nita was the artist, it must have been [Nita’s daughter] Lyndon's home where Mum [Isabel Oliver nee McCaul] and I visited in Mt Maunganui. I was maybe around ten, eleven or twelve years of age and it was just us two. Maybe we were all on holiday there. She use to collect to shells from the beach and make amazing things from them, photo frames etc”.

Brian of nzolivers.com spoke over the telephone to Lyndon on 31 August 2017. Lyndon said it was her mother Nita that Helen would of visited in Mt Maunganui and had the collection with the shells. Lyndon painted the ladies wearing bonnets and beautiful long dresses that Brian remembers on wooden place mats.

Formal first name of “Juanita”, date of marriage from a document “Descendants of Charles Coombs (Dr.) Clark” received from Linda Burge in an email dated 4 June 2017. Linda’s great-grandmother’s (Frederica J Horneman) sister (Emma C Horneman), married Henry G Clark (b.1827).

However, Brian of nzolivers.com checked the offical BDM website and her first name was registered at birth as “Nita”.

John Buckland in an email dated 29 June 2017 writes, “My mother Nita Clark was a talented watercolour artist and started [daughter] Lyndon on painting, after which she was enrolled at Hamilton Girls' High School. Her art teacher was Ida Carey, well known as a NZ painter in oils during those years. Lyndon's work was shown with other entries in the Kelliher Art Awards”.
