OLIVER—FLORANCE. A quiet and picturesque wedding was celebrated in the Eskdale Memorial Church on Saturday morning last, when Lorna, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. H. Florance, Eskview, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Ivor, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. A. Oliver, of Haumoana.
The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. E. T. Olds, and the bridal music was played by Miss G. Florance. The bride, who entered the church with her father, looked winsome in a model powder-blue frock of krinkley crepe with hat, gloves and shoes to tone. She carried a shower bouquet of pink cyclamen, carnations, rhododendrons and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Alma Florance, looked sweet in a frock of lemon floral krinkley crepe, with green hat and shoes to tone; she wore an amber crystal necklace, and earrings, a gift from tho bridegroom. Her bouquet consisted of lemon ranunculi, freesias, roses and maidenhair fern. The bouquets were made and presented by Mr D. Webb, Hastings. The bridegroom was assisted by Mr C. Goodrick, of Mangateretere.
After the service the happy couple ran the gauntlet amidst showers of confetti. The guests then motored to the home of the bride’s parents, where they were entertained to a sumptuous repast. The room and tables were artistically decorated with cherry blossom, arum lilies and greenery, and a large white wedding bell was suspended above the bridal couple. A beautiful tiered cake was the centre of attraction on the bridal table, and was much admired by all. After the reception, Mr and Mrs Oliver left by car on a tour of the north, amidst showers of confetti and good wishes. The presents comprised a variety of articles, both useful and ornamental. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs J. A. Oliver, Mrs J. Blake, Mrs F. H. Mitchell, Mr and Mrs A. J. Blake, Mr and Mrs T. Taylor, Mr and Mrs C. F. Goodrick, Mr and Mrs G. Bridgeman, Mr H. Martel; Misses I. Wilson, K. Oliver, Martel, M. Oliver, E. Goodrick, G. Bridgeman; Messrs A. Oliver, F. Mitchell, D. Webb, E. Blake, N. Oliver, H. Gardiner, E. Martel and D. Bridgeman.
