Interesting find in the Will/Probate records of Robert and Emma (nee Jones) son, “Robert Lyle Houston FRASER” found in July 2025 where Emma states where she was born:

Oath as Executrix and Trustee of he son’s Will wrote, “(6) THAT I this deponent am a British subject born of British parents at Truro in Cornwall, England and that the said deceased was a British subject born of British parents at Coromandel aforesaid".

Therefore, this does look like our Emma Jones married Robert Fraser. Time to apply for a Marriage Certificate printout to absolutely confirm.

The puzzling thing about Robert and Emily’s (Emma) first born, James Lyle Fraser, was that he was registered in Newtown, Sydney. Was he born there?

A transcription of the Australian Birth Registration for Robert and Emma’s baby James was received 15 July 2025 from Marilyn Rowan at GeniCert.
Interestingly, baby James’ place of birth was in Auckland New Zealand but registered in Newtown Sydney on 31 August 1891. Did Robert and Emily (Emma) Fraser visit Sydney a month after baby James was born and, found the baby needed a registration upon arrival in the August? Clarification that Robert was a Gold miner. And, Robert’s place of birth is given here as Clunes, Victoria, Australia. The marriage certificate had stated Sydney? Anyway, here is the text of the registration:

In the transcript, Mrs Jones is likely to be Emma’s mother, and Mrs Gilmour may have attended to the birth. According to newspaper reports in PapersPast, there was a Dr Kilgour and Mrs Kilgour who lived in Thames and retired in 1890 to Auckland.

Robert appointed his sons WILLIAM [Henry] FRASER of Auckland Tailor, VICTOR TREVOR FRASER of Auckland Harbour Board Employee and LESLIE GORDON FRASER of Birkenhead Labourer to be the Executors and Trustees of his Will dated 16 June 1947. Robert bequeathed all his property of what nature and kind soever and wheresoever situate unto his Trustees to sell and convert into money and distribute to all his children living at the time of his death in equal shares.
