Date of funeral of 5 May 1860 from a newspaper clipping received from Graeme Kenyon attached to an email dated 24 September 2020, writing “…it nicely gives us a ‘close to’ date of death. He was buried on May 5 1860”.
The clipping text from the Taranaki Herald 12 May 1860 reads:

CONTINUATION OF JOURNAL OF EVENTS.
Saturday, May 5. — Weather very stormy. Wind from W. and S.W. Heavy squalls, with thunder and lightning. Several of the tents in the camp blown down. Weather very cold. Volunteers and Militia suffering from colds, upwards of 80 being on the sick list. The funeral of Patrick Reid, private, 65th Regiment, took place this day. The deceased died of consumption.

(Graeme Kenyon’s great grandfather was James George Kenyon b.1861 whose second wife was Ada Oliver b.1864, daughter of Samuel Oliver b.1833. Also, James’ sister, Florence Kenyon, married James William Oliver, son of Charles Oliver Oliver b.1843).
