This William Tay is the second husband of Henrietta Gibson. Henreitta is the daughter of Hannah Barbara Barlow and David Gibson.

Linda writes in the 5 July 2018 email that the 1841 Census reads that wife Henreitta’s father David Gibson “is living with William Tay, 50, Victualler, Henrietta Tay 45, Mary Tay daughter 9, born about 1832, Emily Tay dau. 7 born abt. 1834 and Samuel Tay 15 Pot boy born about 1826”.
Brian of nzolivers is assuming that the 15-year old Samuel Tay was in fact a son of Henreitta and her first husband Samuel Cowley and not William Tay. This is based on young Samuel being born at the time Henreitta was married to Samuel Cowley and that young Samuel carries his father’s name.

Linda writes, “Found a burial for William Tay 1 Nov 1842 aged 52 years at St Paul, Mill Hill, Barnet, Middlesex. Can’t say 100% this is Henrietta’s 2nd husband but in the 1851 Henrietta (as Hanah) was a widow 57 yrs, living off interest, b Surrey, residence 24 King street, St Pancras with daughter Emily Tay 17 years”.
