Name, date of birth confirmed, time of birth before 2:00 AM in the morning, full place of birth of Mezőlak Village in the County of Veszprém, of Magyarország [Hungary], name of parents, religion of Evangelical Reformed Church, from birth certificate of this Dániel Tóth. A copy of his certificate was obtained from the Toth family by Brian of nzolivers while visiting the USA in November 2022.
This Dániel Tóth was aged 16 when he came out to the USA and came out with older brother Charles Tóth. Therefore, the voyage to the USA must of been circa 1912.
SZERESD A HAZAT: Love Your CountryDániel brought with him a book he was awarded from school. The title of book translated into English reads, “
Love Your Country” - reading for boys and daughters, with many pictures”. The book’s cover is a deep red colour and covers the history of the Hungarian nation.
The inside cover reads, “This reward book for his diligent study and received for good behavior”. It is then handwritten with the name, “Tóth Dániel” for “student 1908 May 24”. The bottom of the same page has a paragraph, “ Love gives, love receives. Remember the sweet joy of the school years. Feed the eternal fire of the fear of god, patriotism and natural feelings in your soul. Please read it and keep as a fond memory for the rest of your life”.
Over the page it reads, “Love the country, every corner of which is watered by the blood of your ancesters. Be enthusastic and sacrifice for it. Consider it your sacred duty to live and die here. Patriotism is the most beautiful flower of a young heart”.
