COMMENT
This is the first time a record of another James being born to James and Ruth. James and Ruth are listed as living in Derril, less than a mile north of Pyworthy and, just over two miles west of the town of Holsworthy. The baptism record of Mary Ann Oliver also has the abode as Derril. An existing James was born in 1835 and died aged six on board Amelia Thompson en route to New Zealand and was ‘committed to the deep’ on 20 July 1841.

QUESTION
Is this a different James - born earlier and died as a child?

No record of death for this earlier James has been found as at July 2021. It is unlikely this is the existing James born 1835 and this year of birth is wrong? Unlikely as year of birth obtained from Amelia Thompson passenger list and diary of entry on his death.
