Information from “McCaul Family Scotland” compiled in 1991 by Marcia Barbara (Barbara) McCaul, Canada (b. 1932, d. 2002). Barbara was the great-great grandaughter of Gilbert McCaul (b. 1765) and Janet McFarlan (b. 1770). Brian of nzolivers.com is the great-great-great grandson of Gilbert and Janet.

Brian of nzolivers.com is descendant through Malcolm and Isabella’s son Malcolm McFarlan McCaul.

Treasurer to the Asylum for the Blind 1865-1869 [Note: his father-in-law Baillie John Alston (1778-1846) was Hon. Treasurer.]

Cotton and Linen Manufacturer with John Leadbetter & Co. - later Leadbetter, McCAUL and Company. Malcolm McCAUL joined the firm of John Leadbetter and Co. at least by 1840. It is believed they also established a branch in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Note: He may have been with the family firm of Boot and Shoe Manufacturers before becoming a Cotton and Linen Manufacturer.

He retired to Stirling after 1871 and died there in 1891. His unmarried daughter Margaret Scott McCAUL lived in Stirling too.
