Our son Arthur Fitzroy Flindt Horneman was born at Motueka in the district of Nelson New Zealand on Friday the 5th of May 1854 at 8 o’clock at night. He was christened at St Thomas Motueka Sunday the 3rd February 1856 by the Rev Thomas Lloyd Tudor.
His Godfathers’ were
1. #Lieutenant Colonel the Right Honourable Henry Fitz=Roy M.P. for Lewes in Sussex, his father stood proxy for him
2. Henry Gostling Clark Esq of the Moutere
His Godmothers’ were
1. Mrs Green of Ellingham Hants his mother stood proxy for her.
2. Mrs Greenwood wife of I.D. Greenwood Esqre of Motueka
3. Mrs Louisa Adelaide Brown of Ravensbourne Park near Lewisham his-Aunt.
He is named Arthur by the wish of his Mother, Fitz=Roy after his Godfather and Flindt after the Noble family of that name from whom he is descended.
#afterwards Under Secretary of State for the Home Department, in the Government of Lord Viscount Palmerston, he died much regretted by all parties in the House of Commons.
Note: Henry Gostling Clark, son –in-law to Frederick Edward Horneman, married to his eldest child Emma Caroline. Mrs Green/Horneman, wife of Revd Green sister to Frederick Edward Horneman and Louisa Adelaide Brown/Horneman also sister to Frederick Edward Horneman. Greenwood a large pioneering family living at Motueka.
