DEATH OF ANOTHER OLD SETTLER - It is our painful duty to record the death of another of the oldest settlers, and one who has always been held in the highest esteem. Mrs Dodson Senr., the wife of Mr Thomas Dodson, of Wakapuaka, arrived in Nelson in 1842, being a passenger, we believe, in the first ship following the expedition ships, and after residing in the district for 42 years, she has departed this life at the age of 71 years, honored and respected by all. The deceased lady was twice married, her first husband, Mr Northam, having been at the Wairau Massacre, she leaves a large number of descendants. The funeral is to take place on Thursday, and will, we are certain, be attended by a very large number of settlers.
