Wanganui, 9th November.
Mrs. Kendall and two boys were drowned by the capsizing of a small sailing boat in the river to-day. It contained a party of eight, of whom two were women and the rest young people, going up tho river picnicking. When close in shore, near the railway bridge, a squall upset the boat. Two young men named Alfred Grey and Ramson, in a pleasure boat with a party of ladies, managed to rescue five, who clung to the bottom of the overturned boat, but Mrs. Kendall and two of the boys never came to the surface. Where the boat went over there was but some four or five feet of water, but the wind was so strong that it was impossible for the victims of the accident to keep their feet.
