Peter Horneman advised Brian of nzolivers.com in 2/3 May 2017, that Emma out to New Zealand with her parents on the barque ‘Slains Castle’. They left Gravesend on the 22nd July 1852 and arrived at Otago on the 9th November 1852, after a good passage of 108 days. They arrived in Nelson on 3rd January 1853.
(Peter Horneman is the great-grandson of Emma Caroline Horneman b. 1836).

Emma Frances Horneman, her Mother, died at Motueka, Nelson New Zealand on Sunday 16th August 1868. Deeply lamented by all who knew her – she was buried at St Thomas’s Motueka on the 18th following at the Old Church Yard. Emma C. was married to Henry Gostling Clarke Esq of the Lower Moutere on [has left space] The marriage ceremony took place at St Thomas Church Motueka then at the old ground.

Note: Sir Peder Pedersen applied to the King of Denmark on behalf of Frederick Horneman for Supporters for his father’s Coat of Arms. (About 1834 to 1840.)
