Information from Graeme Kenyon, whose great grandfather was James George Kenyon b.1861 whose second wife was Ada Oliver b.1864, daughter of Samuel Oliver b.1833.

Graeme writes, “I have not yet discovered the origin of Joseph Kenyon, from the many Kenyon families in this part of England. I suspect Joseph was not born in Halifax (more likely Nottinghamshire, possibly the village of Langwith. This appears on one of the census records but no other records have been found so far)”.

Date of birth is recorded on the flyleaf of an old family bible which John Kenyon brought with him to New Zealand as a young man.
