1876/3932. Knyvett, William George. Mother: Fredericka Jane. Father: John George
Full date of birth of 9 October 1876 from further searching in August 2022 on BDM Search by incrementally changing the date range for the birth.
Date and place of death from “Horneman Family History 1605 to 2006” CD, Chapter 8, Horneman Family Tree and added here in August 2022.
In an email dated 4 August 2022 from great-granddaughter, Natalee Bessette, she writes that her, “grandma [Marga] always spoke about how the Knyvett family tree was ‘something to be proud of’ but she passed away in 2009 and unfortunately I don’t have as many photos or details as I’d like! I know she mentioned her father [this William George Knyvett] fighting in WW1, and leaving him with health issues. She also had photographs of him with horses and talked fondly about their time homesteading in Strathmore”!

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/55028413/william-george-knyvettWiiliam came to Strathmore in 1907, from New Zealand. He homesteaded two miles north of town. His brother Edward followed him later. The brothers left in 1914 to go to war with the 43rd battalion. Edward was killed at the battle of Mons, while Bill was gassed at Ypres and sent to England to recuperate. While there he met and married a Portuguese widow with a young daughter. The couple returned to Strathmore in 1916, where they had four children: Ted, Marga, Hestia and Bill.
Bill's sister Winifred came out for a visit and ended up staying.
